I am voting for Elizabeth Warren in the Texas primary

Hey y’all! Long time no see. Hope everyone is doing okay. I’m doing alright. Since the disastrous 2016 election, I’ve retired from active blogging and have a good day job nowadays. However, I still run the Facebook page Democratic Majority (formerly Hillary HQ) which still has well over 200k followers and supports Democrats up and down the ballot. Follow along if you like!

I wanted to stop by to say that, as of this week, I have decided that my vote in the Super Tuesday state of Texas will go to Elizabeth Warren. And since making that decision, I feel a sense of excitement and optimism that I haven’t felt in a long time. And boy it feels great!

In some blog comments last year, some of you may have noticed that I was a pretty strong supporter of Kamala Harris. I think she would have been a stellar nominee and was disappointed as hell when she dropped out. After that, for the first time in forever, I was genuinely uncommitted in a Democratic primary...which was a weird feeling for me. I kept my mind open to almost all the candidates and went back and forth on who I liked the best. Booker was a strong contender for a while. Biden’s electability was certainly a huge consideration. Last week, I even started getting into the idea of Klobuchar. But for the most part, I was feeling strangely vague and trying not to get my hopes up about anyone.

When this week’s debate in Las Vegas started, I was feeling a little down about our prospects and still had no strong feelings for any candidate. But by the end, that all changed. I was pumping my fist in the air and ready to fight again. I had found my candidate right when it came time to actually vote. And the next morning, I made my first donation to Elizabeth Warren.

Was it mainly her bludgeoning of Bloomberg that did it? I’d have to say yes. But only because it was the stuff of legend. I’ve never seen anything so devastating on a debate stage in my life. But really it demonstrated exactly what she would do to Trump...if he’s not too chicken to actually debate her. Furthermore, after taking major hits in the first two states, she showed a truly astonishing level grit and determination to get right back into the game. I mean...it was pure power. She made clear that she can get Democrats truly excited as the progressive, consensus candidate that can win back the White House. And so...I’m with her in 2020.

I certainly can’t predict all that will happen during this primary season or at the convention. And rest assured that whoever wins the Democratic nomination, I will fight for that person with absolutely everything I’ve got...because losing to Trump is not an option.

But as for my early vote in Texas today, I’m going with my heart, brain, gut and conscience and pulling the lever for Elizabeth Warren.
